What is an Alaskan Klee Kai?
The Alaskan Klee Kai is a small companion dog that is alert, energetic and curious, yet reserved with unfamiliar people and situations. It resembles its foundation breed, the Alaskan Husky, in miniature.
What is their personality like?
Klee Kai's are intelligent, high-activity dogs. Unlike other husky breeds, they are highly trainable and make good watchdogs. However, due to their small size, they may not make the top of the list to be actual guard dogs. They talk back and howl, but are not excessibe barkers. Because of their intelligence, they can become escape artists.
What to expect?
Klee Kai's need a large amount of interaction with their owners. They tolerate other dogs well. They will be excellent watch dogs, but not really guard dogs. They accept family members and strangers, if introduced by their owners. They are ideal for owners who want a small, active dog that does not require a large yard and can be content with walks and games of fetch. If you cannot tolerate dog hair and shedding, you should consider another breed!
Grooming Needs
Alaskan Klee Kai comes in three different coat types: short, standar, and full. Their double coat serves as insulation against both heat and cold. Like most double-coated breeds, they do not require frequent baths. With the double coat, shedding can be expected. To manage the shedding, increase the frequency of brushing!
